Education and Psychology go hand in hand. It is really valuable to not only share knowledge but also to take care of our students psychological health.
We can only do that if we are taken care of. You cannot pour from en empty cup. So with the start of a new academic year I propose you to do a little exercise to support yourself.
Take care of yourself
We all have fears and doubts. Most of them will never come to be true. So to make you believe in yourself and feel better, you can do a little trick
Here it goes:
- Take a piece of paper
- Divide it into two columns
- In the first one write down everything you are worried about
- In the second change the negative ideas into positive once that feel true
For example
I am not good at planning my lessons > I know what to do and how to face my students’ needs
I won’t be able to control the class > I am a teacher and I have all the abilities needed to control my students’ behavior
This little trick will help you to feel more confident. Of course, it works if you really have the knowledge though.
The important thing is writing not typing – writing calms us down and makes us feel better, that’s why journaling is considered therapeutic.
Have a great start of the academic year!
